Winter Nature Camp: "Where Did the Animals Go?"

When: Dec. 29-30, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. 2015

It's imperative that certain winter traditions are passed down to the next generation, the most important being how to survive winter. Today is the first day of a two-day winter nature camp for elementary-school-age kids, dubbed "Where Did the Animals Go?" at Fountain Creek Nature Center (320 Peppergrass Lane, Fountain). Today's mostly outdoor events will focus on how animals survive, and tomorrow will focus on how people do it. Worried about the subject matter getting dark? Fear not — both days will feature playtime in the woods, shelter-building, crafts, songs and more. The camp runs from 9 to 3, and one- and two-day options are available. You'll pay $40 for one day or $75 for both, with member discounts available. Register by calling 520-6745. — Griffin Swartzell

Price: $30-$75
