Wildflowers are showing their colors in Colorado

If you asked me what the best month is in Colorado, I'd have to say it’s July.

It’s warm, there are summer showers in the afternoon, the fishing is amazing and, of course, the wildflowers are out.

If you live here or are just visiting this is the time to roam the hills in our great state. It’s never more beautiful than it is right now.

I’ve had a couple of days off and I took advantage of it by grabbing my fly rod and driving into the mountains. My luck fishing hasn’t been as good as my luck finding wildflowers. They are in full bloom.

A winter with record snowpack and a wet spring has given the wildflower season an extra kick. Everywhere you look, especially if you're near a stream or a lake, you can find them.

I’ve stumbled on more wildflowers than I can ever remember.

There’s a crazy assortment of colors, shapes and sizes. Here are some of the ones I found. If you’re out in the high country, don’t forget your camera.
