White Reaper

When: Tue., Dec. 1 2015

Their name may scream metal, but White Reaper themselves do not. Barely out of their teens, the four Louisville, Kentucky, musicians wouldn't satisfy your craving for vocal histrionics or overwrought arpeggios even if they could. Instead, look to them for layers of distorted guitar, quavering synth lines, and Gilman Street-style vocals, which together evoke a kind of Ramones primitivism coupled with Cars pop-smarts. The band's 12-song debut album, White Reaper Does It Again, clocks in at under 40 minutes, so expect to hear nearly all of it during tonight's opening set for headliners Together Pangea — who are themselves interviewed on page 37 — at the hi-dive (7 S. Broadway, Denver, hi-dive.com, 720/570-4500). Tickets are $10/adv, $12/door and showtime is 8:30 p.m. — Bill Forman
