- We Are Not a Glum Lot
They are still not a glum lot, but they are a much different lot than the one that started out as a high school band back in 2009. Guitarist and vocalist Sam Erickson and co-founding bassist Zac Blum forged onward after last year's departure of electric violinist Colin Foxwell, who'd always played a significant role in the band's distinctive sound.
We Are Not a Glum Lot have since brought on a second guitarist, David Musante, as well as new drummer Reggie Thompson. "We're way heavier now, thanks to Reggie, which is kind of the sound we were already going for before he joined," says Erickson today.
WHICH ONE'S PINK
Meanwhile, the band released its first full-length album earlier this year, with Adam Hawkins from Eros & The Eschaton at the production helm. The new material was well-received at the band's album release party back in May, and has also earned some admiring reviews in its aftermath. "We've gotten a lot of comparisons to Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Modest Mouse," says Erickson. "Also Pink Floyd, which I think is really weird."
