Thin Air Nationals Car Show

When: July 15-16 2016

American muscle, rat rods, lowriders, classic restorations and more — we are a nation that loves our customized cars. Among the most devoted enthusiasts in the Pikes Peak region is the 37-year-old Colorado Springs Rod and Custom Car Club, which is hosting its annual Thin Air Nationals car show in Green Mountain Falls. This two-day event features more than 150 cars of all makes, models and classes (register online now if you're looking to reserve your own parking spot), local food options, games for the whole family and more. Trust me, you're not likely to find more beautiful vehicles in an even more beautiful setting, and make sure to stick around to catch today's Valve Cover Race — a miniature soapbox derby race of sorts for car junkies — at the pavilion as well. 7 a.m.-3 p.m. (vehicle registration closes at 10 a.m.), 7010 Lake St., Green Mountain Falls, $35 for vehicle entry (price includes T-shirt and dash plaque); $15 for additional vehicles, see Facebook for more details, 649-1702. — Craig Lemley
