Thespiana 2016

When: Sat., Feb. 27, 7 p.m. and Sun., Feb. 28, 2:30 p.m. 2016

According to Chuck Cabell, a gray comedy is much like a black comedy, but not quite as morbid. As an example, one of Cabell's plays in tonight's Thespiana 2016 play-readings festival is titled A Priest, a Rabbi, and a Horse... It begins with a joke that, through interruption and interference, goes further and further into the conversational boonies. Thespiana is organized by local playwriting group The Drama Lab, and the event will feature directed readings of five original plays. 7 p.m. Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday, David H. Lord Theater, 427 E. Colorado Ave., $10, 520-1899, cottonwoodcenterforthearts.com. — Griffin Swartzell
