The Shins

When: Tue., May 29 2012

Fall frontman Mark E. Smith once claimed that he could record with your grandmother and it would still be the Fall. A similar claim can be made for Shins mastermind James Mercer, who sacked his whole band prior to recording this year's Port of Morrow album, which landed the Shins at No. 2 on the Billboard charts. Although I personally find Mercer's Broken Bells collaboration with Danger Mouse more compelling, there's still bound to be lots of indie-rock magic during tonight's Shins performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre (18300 W. Alameda Pkwy., Morrison, redrocksonline.com). Tickets run from $36.50 to $43.75 for this 7 p.m., all-ages show, with Blind Pilot and the Head and the Heart doing opening honors. — Bill Forman
