Open only by appointment and for a few select events a year, The Second Floor Studios in Old Colorado City offer a home for about 15 incredible regional artists, including folks like painter Cynthia Feustel (pictured), photographer and watercolorist Jana Bussanich, pen and ink artist Neil Talbott and more. Friday, open especially for Arts Month’s ArtWalk, the studios will welcome visitors and showcase about a dozen artists’ workspaces and completed art. Check out a seasonally appropriate display by oil painter Gene Sanchez, The Dancing Dead, which includes tiles painted with dancing skeletons. Or, for a different medium you can look into the studio of Karen Rivera, who creates Steampunk-inspired or otherwise whimsical hats, coats and corsets. Then there’s artist and teacher Chris Alvarez’s ever-popular “Make an Offer” sale, this year entitled Plethora — It Means a Lot. He’ll be selling small studies, drawings and completed paintings for prices you probably won’t be able to replicate all year.
