Chris and Deb Mitguard sang their first song together 8 1/2 years ago.
It was the couple's wedding, and Chris was on the guitar, Deb on the mandolin. At the time, neither was aware of the musical journey the moment would spark.
"We started off slow," Deb Mitguard says, "but we have great chemistry and we're very comfortable playing together. We have a good time."
Today, the husband-and-wife folk duo has performed in Denver, Utah, South Dakota, Wyoming basically all over the country, they say and even Australia and Canada. More often, though, they can be seen at local venues like the Jazz Bistro and Jimbo's Take 2.
The third CD from the Colorado Springs residents, Ridin' with the One I Love, was released three weeks ago, and the Mitguards believe it's their best yet. On the disc, the couple's folk sound is infused with harmonies and a brilliantly captivating acoustic sound.
It's impressive enough for a duo like theirs, but the Mitguards aren't yet satisfied. Says Chris Mitguard: "We are trying to get out throughout the country, travel more, play at more venues, put our music in the hands of known artists and get our songs into movies."
