- With wild Trump vandals out prowling Hollywood Bouldevard, Dave Mansfield protects Rodney Bingenheimer's star from collateral damage.
When last we had heard from The Mansfields, everyone's favorite local purveyors of ghoulishly fun punk/garage/glitter-rock filtered through the lens of B-movie horror, they had announced the forthcoming Hollywood Babylon, a concept album chronicling the stranger and less-sunny sides of the Hollywood mythos.
The band introduced their new material with a show at the Modbo Gallery, accompanied by Doug Mansfield's panel paintings, giving Colorado Springs a colorful first look at songs such as "Who Killed the Black Dahlia," "Sharon Tate Will Have Her Revenge" and "La Brea Tar Pit Fashion Fiend."
A little over a year later, frontman Dave Mansfield has announced that Hollywood Babylon has officially found a home on the band's favorite label, Gearhead Records, and will be unleashed Friday, Sept. 22, with a release show at Denver's Streets of London.
For a double dose of Mansfields, you can also attend the album listening party and Mansfields DJ sets at the Modbo the following night, Sept. 23. Additionally, for anyone who happens to be in California, you can help the band celebrate the record once again with their appearance at Gearhead Records' Gearfest 2017 on Sept. 30.
That's not all of our Mansfields news, however. The band will also be featured on former KROQ deejay and notable rock tastemaker Rodney Bingenheimer's Christmas compilation, Santa's Got a GTO, Vol. 2, alongside the likes of The Donnas, The Hives, The Dollyrots and many more.
