Locals Lacie Richardson and Mike Preisler have started a new party bus. It’s called The Local Motive, and it’s all about spotlighting local food, drink and recreation businesses.

“What better way to get to know your city than through food and drink and meeting other people in the process?” says Richardson, co-owner and CEO. She and co-owner/fiancé Preisler host a series of rotating tours, bringing locals and tourists alike to businesses in the region — and not just downtown, but along the Powers corridor, in Monument and Black Forest and more.

The business held its soft opening with a Star Wars-themed “May the 4th be with you” tour, but they’re using rented buses through the month of May — they’re still wrapping up licensing for their signature red-white-blue Local Motive bus, though that should be on the streets in June.

Tours run Tuesday and Thursday through Sunday. Tuesdays, they’ll focus on breweries and on-bus trivia; Thursdays will see more events and activities, like rock climbing and adult roller skating; Fridays, they’ll do more brewery tours; on Saturdays, they’ll do cocktail-and-bites tours; and on Sundays, they’ll focus on breakfast offerings, with bingo on the bus. Tickets will cost $25 and include discounted drinks and food samples.

“You’re looking at [something like] $2 cocktails or $3 bites... at every location we go to,” says Richardson. Tours will also include opportunities to speak with the owners and chefs, behind-the-scenes tours and other educational elements. “They’re really gonna get to experience the fullness of these locations.”
