Last year at this time, I wrote a story titled "Range on the home," about a rise in urban farming. The text followed several creative food growers who were rethinking everything from our use of front and back yards to the possibilities of sustainable farming.
By now, many of us have become hip to supporting farmers markets, buying into community-supported agriculture shares, shopping local, and trying to pull at least a few veggies out of our own gardens.
So we started wondering, what's next? How much further will people go to be green and revolutionize their food systems? What's the next frontier? When will D.I.Y. yield to nuh-uh?
We can't say for sure, of course, but a quick look around unveiled a few trends on the rise, and one method of innovative cooking we just had to explore. We'll teach you about the birds and bees (really!) and much more. Enjoy.
