The Hollow Men and the Fine Art of Detraction and Post-Partum

When: June 3-24 2016

This month's shows at S.P.Q.R. come to an end after tonight, so take this last chance to examine some relatable, challenging situations and headspaces. Calling a corporate office hell, for instance, has almost become a truism, but local artist Heather Bingham says that back in her office days, she was struck by the casual backbiting her co-workers took part in. Her exhibit, The Hollow Men and the Fine Art of Detraction, explores that atmosphere with paintings featuring empty suits and golfing equipment. Being a parent for the first time is also daunting in its own way, undermining self-confidence, self-esteem and more. In Post-Partum, Sarah Tenney explores the trials and tribulations she experienced when she had her first child in a series of metaphorical works. 5:30 p.m., 17c E. Bijou St., — Griffin Swartzell
