The Flaming Lips

When: Sun., Jan. 4 2015

The Flaming Lips have been a band nine years longer than Miley Cyrus has been alive, but that didn't stop the artists from teaming up for a trippy, live rendition of The Beatles' "A Day in the Life" on a November episode of Conan. The performance was a Bowie-esque, dark-and-shiny plug for the Lips' new cover album With a Little Help From My Fwends, and came with a singer who Wayne Coyne calls "fun and a freak." The Flaming Lips have been called similar things for decades, and they're likely to stay on the cutting edge of weird at 7 tonight at the Ogden Theatre (935 E. Colfax Ave., axs.com). Tickets are $75. — Bryce Crawford
