The Contortionist

When: Tue., March 8, 7:30 p.m. 2011

Hardcore punk band The Contortionist doesn't do nuance. "Oscillator," for instance, finishes with this grocery list of horror: "I've never felt so alive as I did / watching the blood drop from your chest and into my hands. / This feels so incomplete without holding your still-beating heart in my hands." It's the kind of thing that makes you almost wish for some of rap's laid-back debauchery. But, even if you're not a fan of the genre, you can surely appreciate some drama with your rage. You know, "I'll tell you whose still-beating heart will be in my hands next ..." The Contortionist plays for all ages (bring the kids!) at the Black Sheep (2106 E. Platte Ave., sodajerkpresents.com) at 7:30 tonight; get in for $8 ahead of time or $10 at the door. — Edie Adelstein
