With a common theme of ecological wisdom, grassroots democracy, social justice and peace and nonviolence, the Greens are organized as a political party, or movement in some form, in 95 countries on every continent.

Activists first started organizing in the United States in 1984, and in 1992, state parties were organizing and gaining ballot access. Currently, 79 Greens hold elected office in 18 states and the District of Columbia.

This November, at least 122 Greens in 22 states and the District of Columbia are running for office.

In Colorado, Green candidate Ron Forthofer is challenging Democratic Rep. Mark Udall for his District 2 Congressional seat. Currently, four Colorado Green Party members hold public office, including:

Art Goodtimes, Board of Supervisors, San Miguel County

Krista Paradise, Board of Trustees, Carbondale

Jim Lamb, Town Council, Breckenridge

Robert Kelly-Goss, Town Council, Minturn (Eagle County)
