As college students, we three Independent summer interns thought we were prepared to dole out expert advice on how to thrive while on campus in Colorado Springs.

When we actually sat down to organize our "expertise," however, we realized that playing collegial sages was far easier said than done.

We steadily realized that we survive as students at Colorado College and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs largely by instinct, obtained and honed in the time we've spent living and working here, and that putting our methodologies to paper would be a daunting charge.

So it took a while to hash out some information on what we judge to be the most relevant parts of college life in our fair burg (read: dating, hangouts, beer and more). But in the end, we wound up with a very special guidebook for incoming or returning college students in Colorado Springs. (Feel free to tell us what we missed, or got wrong, at letters@csindy.com.

Author Douglas Adams once wrote another kind of guidebook, and on its cover were written in large, friendly letters the words "Don't Panic."

College is a lot of things, and full of intimidating, constant change. But with decent advice, and a panic-free mindset, you can make it the time of your life.
