She says exterior construction should be underway in late February, noting her space alone will take roughly a month. She hopes to be the first spot back in business. As part of the renovations, the dining space will gain a skylight and a 640-square-foot mezzanine off the kitchen. She’s also designed a preliminary menu, focused on globally inspired small and shared plates. It’ll be subject to further revisions before the grand opening. Addressing the last McCabe’s reboot in 2015, where vegan fare became a bigger focus, Howard says that won’t be the case here, though she’ll offer vegan and vegetarian options.
“We’re going for casual excellence,” she says. “It’s not fine dining by any means — I still want it to be a very casual setting, with exceptional service, exceptional food and exceptional drinks.”
