- Bradley Flora
Style of music, in 10 words or less: "A new perspective over some dope instrumentation"
Three artists she owes everything to: Elvis, Whitney Houston, Atmosphere
Debut performance: 2011
Recordings: Fades and Green Stuff (2011), Sticks and Stones (2013), The Art of Perception (2013), Slight Smiles (2013), The Gift (2014)
Why she matters: It's true that Stoney Bertz is the only female hip-hop emcee to rock the mic on a regular basis here in the Springs, but that's not what makes her great. Rather, it's her tightly crafted rhymes and self-assured delivery, along with a generosity of spirit that's uplifting even in her most stone-cold-serious moments. For proof, look no further than "The Difference," a track from her newest collection, The Gift. "Exodus, exit us, we might come back later," she observes, "but that requires love, and a whole lot of favors."
