Near the corner of West Fillmore Street and North Cascade Avenue lies A-Wellness Centers, where you can find $10 grams and $35 eighths on all strains, as well as $5 Keef Colas. Look for rubbing oils, healing salves and smoking accessories. And what should you try? "Super Lemon Haze," manager Mike Scudder says. "It's a sativa, and a two-time cannabis winner. We got the seeds from Europe."

A Cut Above

Strains: 30 to 40

A Cut Above offers a waiting room featuring a big-screen TV and leather couches, leading into a separate space containing edibles, tinctures, hash, joints and medical pain relievers. Look for unique, clone-only strains that nobody else carries, says one employee.

Acme Smoke

If you miss Acme's location next to Yakibob's and Conway's Red Top, look for its huge sign. Once inside, look for all the rest: edibles from North Shore Edibles, TinctureBelle tinctures, granola bars, Keef Cola and hard candies. Also, there's lotions, balms and three kinds of hash. And clones? Acme's got clones. "They're Blue Dream clones, and they're huge and unbelievable," says manager Jocelyn (last name withheld).

Advanced Cure for Vera Vestura

Advanced Cure for Vera Vestura — the last two words apparently meaning "well-being" in Icelandic — offers a variety of edibles, including trail mix and granola bars, as well as a special on $10 grams.

All Good Care Center

"We offer good medicine at good prices," says center owner David Schiller. Additionally, Schiller is now offering a bigger line of infused products: frozen pizzas, potpies, buffalo wings and more. Look for discounts for disabled veterans; massage services, clones, balms and rubbing ointments; smoking accessories; and free clinics on growing, medical licensure and legal rights.

All Saints Medical Center

Across from the Black Sheep lies All Saints, which offers edibles and infused products galore: candies, chips, brownies, lollipops, tinctures, hash pills, hot chocolate, chai tea, fudge, mini peanut butter cups and more. If you're interested in an individual strain, the center recommends its Texas Shoreline, which is 90 percent indica. First-time customers receive a free joint, and everyone can look for $8 grams on select strains for a limited time.

Alternative Medicine Colorado Springs

Alternative Medicine Colorado Springs says it offers professional caregiving services. "We're here to help anyone who needs help," says owner Jack Roth. Expect to find hash, edibles and tinctures as well as 40-plus strains, and discounts for seniors. With recently lowered prices, eighths start at $25.

Altitude Organic Medicine

While the center's name is licensed from a Denver-based company, each Altitude Organic is independently owned and operated. The Old Colorado City location offers all organic strains, tinctures from TinctureBelle, lotions and edibles such as brownies, trail mix, popcorn, Keef Cola, Baked Canna Goods, North Shore Edibles and Cheeba Chews. If spliffs are your thing, find cross, triple cross and King Kong joints. The South Nevada location says it offers a laid-back atmosphere, complete with lounge and big-screen TV. Expect $30 eighths, Medi Snacks, Keef Cola, and some hydroponic growing equipment. It also sells $30 grams of Caviar: medication infused with hash honey oil and rolled in keef.

Amendment 20 Caregivers

In a relaxed setting, Amendment 20 runs the gamut with its offerings: $50 quarter-ounces on all strains; edibles like candies, cakes and sodas; balms, tinctures, glassware, vaporizers, grinders, powdered hash, hash pills, seeds and clones. Additional services include counseling and grow consulting. "We want to do all that we can to help those fighting cancer with medical marijuana, because we believe that it helps," says the unnamed owner. Additionally, several strains are professionally tested by Full Spectrum Laboratories.

Apothecare Medicinal Center

Nicole Romero's Apothecare offers edibles from Keef Cola and Gaia's Garden, not to mention sprays, punches, energy drinks, spa treatments, medicated balms, pipes, tinctures and papers, plus clones that start at $10. "[We provide] discretion, confidentiality and a friendly, educated staff," says Romero, who also offers 10 percent off all products for members and a free joint for signing up.

Aromas and Herbs

Aromas and Herbs is now housed in a new, bigger space, but the center's original ethos of "discreet and upscale" still stands. Acupuncture, massage, aromatherapy and Reiki treatments are all available. And "it's 100 percent Colorado, every penny we spend," says owner KC Stark. Look for a full line of edibles and roughly 20 strains, not to mention a little industry know-how. "I spend more of my time right now advocating and helping industry professionals than I actually do selling marijuana," says Stark. "It thrills me."

Best Budz

Located on the northeast corner of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Academy Boulevard, Best Budz provides edibles, drinks, hash, tinctures and a large assortment of glassware. Customers have mentioned lower pricing here than at other dispensaries, says one employee.

Bijou Wellness Center

Military-veteran-owned Bijou Wellness Center offers high-end organic strains and topical salves, as well as massage, acupuncture, counseling, craniosacral therapy and more. Look for a focus on servicing the needs of veterans and active military. Cannabutter, infused extra-virgin olive oil, sodas, banana bread, cookies, pretzels, hash brownies, tinctures and Cheeba Chews are just a sampling of available edibles. "We understand our patients' needs and offer professional and discreet health care solutions," says owner Jack Myers.

Briargate Wellness Center

When not being confused with a "clean, professional and upscale" doctor's office, Joe DiFabio's BWC is churning out the care: edibles, tinctures, sodas, candy bars, creams and lotions, not to mention hash oil, keef and $30 grams of Caviar. "We try to be the total wellness center for our patients — we bend over backward for patients," DiFabio says. "We do whatever it takes to make them feel safe and secure."

Broadmoor Wellness Center

Broadmoor Wellness claims to be "the most beautiful and relaxing dispensary in town." Look for Mile High Ice Cream, Discreet Treats products, drinks from MarQaha and Green Dragon, brownies, wellness drops, tinctures, hash caps, lotions, balms and more.

Canna Caregivers

Caregivers at Canna say all the house strains are Colorado-grown and organic. "What people like is that we are medical in nature. We're located in a medical building, not just a retail store," says owner Tyla Reimers. "It seems to be what sets us apart for our patients." Canna offers all the amenities of a full-service center, including a wide array of edibles from Twirling Hippy, Mile High Ice Cream, MarQaha, Cheeba Chews, TinctureBelle, Dixie Elixir, Keef Cola, other baked goods and lotions.

Canna Meds Wellness Center

Billed as "a full wellness center," CMWC offers all the usual tinctures and rubs, but a new line of Star Wars-related strains is making its way out. All told, one employee says, a total of 50 strains are available "that most people around here haven't seen." Eighths for top-shelf meds typically run around $35, though members receive select eighths for $25.

Asked to describe what Canna-Pothecary focuses on, one unnamed employee answers right away: "A lot of earwax hash." So look for several varieties and a full line of edibles, as well as roughly 15 strains, with the Grape Skunk being the definite standout. Members receive 20 percent off on all items in the center, and while cancer awareness is not as big an issue for the center as it has been in the past, there are still some items like supportive hats.

Located near Peterson Air Force Base, Cannabicare is offering more than a dozen strains, $35 eighths for members, and smoking accessories and edibles. Says one employee: "We're geared toward patients in need, and not recreational users."

Cannabinoids Medical Marijuana Center

Patient services abound at Cannabinoids Medical Marijuana Center, including massage therapy, and perks for members like 10 percent off and a free gram every week. Look for assorted edibles, tinctures, grow and cooking classes, as well as general information on medical marijuana.

Cannabis Medical Rx

One employee says, "We don't like to think of ourselves as just another dispensary, but as a second home for our patients." Look for infused products like hash, hash pills and oil, as well as edibles from Discreet Treats, various sodas and tinctures. The center offers monthly specials, and will be celebrating its one-year anniversary in May, which will end with a drawing for a big-screen TV.

Cannabis Therapeutics

One employee says Cannabis Therapeutics is the oldest center in the state. It boasts its own lab for THC-sample testing — in-house or patient-provided — and offers more products than there are letters in the word "tetrahydrocannabinol." Consider: specials on $75 ounces for members; varieties of clones and mother plants; medicated bubble bath, shower scrubs and hand soaps; tinctures and glycerins; THC sprays and drops; roll-ons, rubs and salves; and candies, bubble gum and suckers. For other forms of intake, look for papers, blunts, wraps, rolls, cones, one-hitters, dugouts, water pipes, bongs, double bubblers and vaporizers all sent out the door in odor-proof, waterproof bags.

Tucked behind a 7-Eleven at the northeast corner of Fountain Boulevard and Jet Wing Drive, Cannacare serves patients' needs with edibles, sodas, ice cream and, of course, the leaf. Specific discounts are no longer offered, but an employee says prices have dropped so low — for example, $30 eighths — that they're no longer needed.

Colorado Alternative Care Services

Members receive special pricing on a variety of medication, says one unnamed employee. The center focuses on offering high-quality strains loaded with THC, but also stocks general edibles, including brownies and cookies, as well as tinctures, oils and salves.

Colorado Cannabis Caregivers

CCC features "edibles that are guaranteed to work," says employee Ben Mitton, as well as hard candies, vaporizers, glass pipes and medicated lip balms. It has been serving the medical marijuana community since August '09; look for $20-to-$60 locally grown eighths. "When people see our selection, they'll find out we're one of the better [dispensaries] in town," Mitton says. Though walk-ins are technically welcome, a phone call 15 minutes prior to arrival is appreciated.

Comfort Care Centers

One of the few dispensaries located in Teller County, Comfort Care Centers invites all comers, but tends to cater to senior citizens, with educational classes and a 10-percent-off senior discount. Look for staple strains such as AK-47, Sour Diesel and Island Sweet Skunk — not to mention a new selection via seeds from Centennial Seed Co. — as well as varied edibles, tinctures, bath teas and lotions.

Crossroads MMC

Strains: 15

Hours: Monday-Saturday, noon to 7 p.m.; Sunday, by appointment only

"We're a small shop, and still growing, not trying to do anything too crazy," says owner Triton Gulczynski. "You know, just take care of our patients." The center is doing just that while tucked away in an industrial park, says the owner, who's favorite strains are Master Kush, Romulan and Mango Kush. Also look for a full lineup of edibles.

Eagle's Nest Wellness Center

After $250,000 in renovations, Eagle's Nest Wellness Center held its grand opening in the old Swiss Miss building last August. Owner, priest and biochemist Lono Ho'ala was forced to move his established Eagle's Nest retreat due to zoning issues, and picked the area landmark as the new site for his holistic and naturopathic medicines, nature walks and "rational, reality-based classes," like the grow classes held every Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, and the shamanic trainings held every Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by a potluck. There's also a dispensary, which the religion of Ho'ala Huna considers a natural offshoot of its practice.

East West Alternative Medicine

EWAM says it caters to the older crowd of patients, offering a variety of edibles, tinctures, lotions, pipes and vaporizers. One employee says the center is focusing on increasing its strain count, estimating it will be up to 60 by the end of May.

Emerald City Wellness

Discreetly located in the basement of an Eighth Street office complex, Emerald City brings a spacious professional office feel (read: leather couches and coffee tables). An oxygen bar offers relief from insomnia, pain and ADHD, among other ailments, while a lineup of edibles from Simply Pure and MarQaha take care of the rest; all strains are capped at $35 per eighth. ECW also serves as an information base for the MMJ-advocacy organization Americans for Safe Access.

Enlightened Care

Behind the Wendy's lies Enlightened Care, which one unnamed employee describes as a "café-style" center, with a coffee bar, waiting room and a showcase of different medications. Additionally, look for what the center describes as one of the city's largest selections of edibles, tinctures, bubble hash, keef and oils.

Epic Medical Caregivers

A representative for Epic Medical says its blueberry muffins are known area-wide, not to mention its selection of medicated popcorn, hard candies, cookies and rice-marshmallow treats. In addition to its line of dense medication, the center champions charitable causes; in its Patients for Patients program, the center collects money to help improve the lives of its patients.

Standing for Front Range Alternative Medicine, FRAM offers a "match 'em" policy every day to all patients — designated or not — where medication purchases are matched by the center (up to 7 grams), as well as varying daily specials. FRAM provides hash, tinctures, edibles and Colorado-grown medication, as well as specialists in acupuncture, hot rock therapy, Reiki and deep tissue massage who will travel to a patient's location.

Green Earth Wellness Center

Green Earth folks say they specialize in higher-end medicines and edibles. You can also find a full line of rubs, tinctures and related items in a space with an art-gallery feel.

The Green House

From a free gram with the purchase of a fourth on Freebie Fridays, to $5 off an eighth on Wednesdays, The Green House offers a variety of specials. Owner Isaac Mavashev says the center has some of the cheapest vaporizers and pipes in town. It also offers a wide range of edibles, including a full line-up of Benz cookies, brownies, iced tea, truffles, hard candies and tinctures.

Green Life Medical Center

"We're big on the caregiving side," says co-owner Josh Powner, who says either he or another owner is in the building every day. "Our knowledge level is very high, and customers like our service when compared to other dispensaries." Located in a clinical-type facility near Tinseltown, Green Life is open all holidays and provides organic edibles like take 'n bake frozen meals, brownies, pumpkin bread and raspberry granola, as well as tinctures, lotions and 120 varieties of clone. Look for its house-made Spice strain: Similar to Caviar, it's medication that's been soaked in hash oil, and rolled in keef.

Green Love Wellness

Green Love offers edibles and pipes, as well as recently lowered prices on the medication itself. Specials include a free joint with purchase of an eighth or more, as well as a deal where members receive 15 percent off.

Green Pharm

Grams of medication start at $8, eighths at $25 and ounces can be had for $180. "We're trying to be fair with people," says co-owner Gary Beierle, adding: "We run a clean, professional dispensary. That's our main thing." Also look for hash and hash oil, smoking accessories, tinctures and candies.

Grow Life

Grow Life prefers to run a 50-50 split between indica and sativa strains, though it says both are 100 percent organic and soil-based (as opposed to hydroponically grown). It also sports exclusive growers so that each strain is unique to the center and may be purchased using VISA and MasterCard. Look for edibles as well as hand-blown glass pipes and a sliding-scale payment system based on the amount of medication purchased. Also, all eighths are less than $40 with caregiver designation, new patients benefit from a free edible, and further member discounts are available. Uniquely, Grow Life dedicates a wall to an artist of the month.

Happy Buddha Wellness

Happy Buddha recently experienced an ownership change, and new owner Jeremy (last name withheld) says he's got good news for patients: "All we carry now is top shelf at mid-grade prices," he says, noting members receive eighths at around $25. "We don't carry the normal strains. We tend to carry the strains that not everybody else has." While there, look for a pleasant atmosphere and a private location, next to offices for a dentist and massage therapist. There's private parking, and even private appointments available, if you prefer to purchase medication sans other patients.

Hatch Wellness Center

Hatch first started in Highlands Ranch; it has since opened a Colorado Springs location near Peterson Air Force Base. Owner Dr. Eric Hatch says the center offers buds, clones, edibles and tinctures, and that patients should expect a professional and comfortable environment in which to purchase medication.

Hawaiian Herbal Health Center

An e-mailed statement from the unnamed owners says the center offers "a warm tropical feeling and plenty of aloha, along with being discreet." The center that's down the road from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs offers tinctures, hash, balms, "lots of delicious and potent elixirs," teas and other edibles, as well as pipes, vaporizers and smoking accessories. Also look for massage services, Hawaiian souvenirs and the center's Big Island sativa strain.

The Healing Canna

Healing Canna offers a large, well-lit waiting and reception area to patients who come to take advantage of the varying daily specials, in addition to its punch card, which offers a free eighth after 11 are purchased. Members receive even greater discounts, and access to a large selection of edibles, house-made bubble hash and a viewable grow room. The center only sells to patients age 21 and over, and gives 10 percent off to disabled vets. Check its website for daily menu updates.

The Healthy Connections

One of downtown's newest centers, uHeal Apothecary offers weekly coupons for discounted meds, and a rewards program for patients and members. Look for the traditional offerings of balms, rubs, lotions and tinctures, and edibles such as different savories, sodas, sweets, Caviar and hash pills. Also note that new prices have the additional tax built in.

We Grow Colorado

The leaders of We Grow are particularly proud of their house Papa's Strains, a combination of anywhere between three and 12 varieties. The center, which focuses on service to local vets, also sells edibles and tinctures as well as glassware, vaporizers, lotions and rubs. At any time, patients may receive a top-shelf strain for $5 per gram.

White Mountain Medicine

"We have a ton of edibles," says Lacy Scott, who co-owns White Mountain Medicine with her husband Randy. Look for products from North Shore Edibles, TinctureBelle, Wellness Drops, Head Bread and more. Phoenix Tears Hemp Oil, as well as earwax and black tar hash, are also available. Members enjoy $35-per-eighth pricing on strains like Chernobyl and Storm Trooper. Accessories include pipes, bongs and vaporizers. "Our assorted glass selection has some of the best prices in town," says employee Devin O'Toole.

Westside Wellness Center

Westside Wellness has set out to create a relaxing space that feels like home, which plays an important role in the center's community-building activities. The center welcomes patients who need recommendations and help setting up doctor visits for medical marijuana licensing. In the meantime, look for a 15 percent discount for veterans, as well as the availability of the Kali Mist strain. The family-owned and -operated center offers only Colorado-grown strains, edibles, tinctures and lotions, as well as pipes and vaporizers.
