It's (almost) summer jump right in

Welcome to the 2007 Indy Summer Guide. Let's get right to it: If you're looking for wild cow milking, check out the July calendar. Gator wrestling: August. Raucous, beer-fueled music events: virtually anytime.

We'd considered just making up a whole bunch of unlikely events in faraway, perhaps nonexistent, corners of the state; say, the 64th annual Mullets, Motorcross and Ham-boning Days in Fargus; just to see if anyone would hit the road, then write us an angry letter. But we ended up doing a real calendar again, on account of standing policy of offering utilitarian information to readers.

The cool thing is, this calendar actually contains enough weird stuff to be entertaining, without lies. There are a million kid-friendly festivals, complete with wagon rides, games and all the other stuff that screams, Sweet America! And don't forget the multitude of 5Ks, bike races, marathons, triathlons and other events to punish your calves and hammies.

The Springs has plenty to offer, and the road provides plenty more. As usual, we couldn't cover everything in the region; but we tried. Let us know if we're missing something awesome at scene@csindy.com.

And have a rock-star summer.
