Sound as Experience: Cellist Charles Curtis

When: Mon., Sept. 9, 7 p.m. 2013

There are probably thousands of testaments to the brilliance of cellist Charles Curtis, but here are three that stand out to me: He went directly from Juilliard graduation to Princeton University faculty; he's performed at Carnegie Hall (at age 19) and at CBGB, Tonic and the Knitting Factory; and he's collaborated with poetry-rock trailblazers with names like King Missile and Dogbowl. To hear his "A Listener's Music: Performative Listeners & the Performance of Listening" recital at 7 tonight, register at It's a free event (though tickets are required, and currently sold out) at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs' GOCA 121 (121 S. Tejon St.). — Kirk Woundy
