Indy: What's up in the underground world of Dilated Peoples? We thought for sure your 2004 collaboration with Kanye West on "This Way" was going to bring some success your way.
RI: Success is kind of relative to the person who is saying it, so to some people, we'll always be underground. To some people, they say you're underground as long as you haven't sold a certain amount of records or their best friend doesn't know you, so we don't get caught up in it.
Indy: Good call; my best friend doesn't know shit. Now, when will we get the follow-up to 2006's 20/20?
RI: Right now, we're starting to work on a new project that will probably come out in early 2009. So we're just getting back in the lab, and we love to perform and get down as a crew. I'd like to tell cats up there, make sure you rest up, stretch, take your vitamins, do what you gotta do, because you know how we get down when we come to C-O. It's just how it is. Dilated, we're coming to see you on the minute.
Indy: What kind of show are you bringing?
RI: There's no laser shows and special effects. We just get up there, rock a crowd and know how to party. We get up there and we sweat. I usually come off the stage looking like I have an old-school, 1987 Jheri curl for some reason, but we sweat through it.
Headlining at The Black Sheep, Feb. 28.
