Indy: The song "The Great Escape," off your debut self-titled album, has been a huge radio hit for you guys. I understand that it's how you first got noticed on your MySpace page as well. What is it about that song?
JK: It's a well-written pop song, you know? Just like "Sugar, We're Going Down" for Fall Out Boy, it's just a really catchy song that people could sing along to and relate to. We sdfdfThis stuff just comes out how it comes out, and after the song was done and after we finished it, we were like, "Wow, this is really cool. Kids are really going to like this stuff. I think we're on to something here. This is pretty good." And we liked it.
Indy: Those high notes on the chorus are just irresistible.
JK (laughs): Yeah. [Lead singer] Martin [Johnson]'s got quite the pipes, for sure.
Indy: Now you're on the Warped Tour. What're you expecting from this stint?
JK: Well, we're expecting heat, obviously. But even a year and a half ago, I was still doing landscaping, working for my brother's company and working in the heat, so I'm pretty ready for it. It'll be fun, though. I'm excited to see all the bands and meet new people and see what else is up and coming. It's really cool. We've all been to this tour growing up. It's really cool to be invited to play on it. Pete Freedman
The Warped Tour comes to Denver's Invesco Field at Mile High on July 8.
