Simply Sinatra

When: Sat., Jan. 15, 8 p.m. 2011

Take a cue from the Frank Sinatra classic and "Start spreadin' the news ..." The Colorado Springs Philharmonic joins forces with a world-class Sinatra interpreter tonight at the Pikes Peak Center (190 S. Cascade Ave., pikespeakcenter.com), making Simply Sinatra the latest can't miss affair from the orchestra's five-concert Pops series. The worthy crooner standing in for Ol' Blue Eyes, Steve Lippia, captures Sinatra's whiskey-and-cigarettes baritone deftly. Marry this with Lippia's stage command and you see how the show's marketers can so confidently risk false-advertising lawsuits and claim that Sinatra, "Comes to life onstage!" Show starts at 8, "moonlight and love songs, never out of date." There's a 2:30 p.m. show Sunday as well; admission for both runs $18-$57. — Eric Calder
