It's a pretty unusual conductor who doesn't use a baton and goes simply by "Z." Meet Shizuo Kuwahara, who has won awards around the world and is the second of five music-director finalists to try out with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. Kuwahara will lead the symphony at 8 tonight at 2:30 tomorrow at the Pikes Peak Center (190 S. Cascade Ave.,, performing pieces by Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Bartók.
