Scarecrow Days

When: Oct. 1-31 2015

Scarecrows aren't just for crows anymore. In fact, they haven't been since the 8th century, when Japanese mythology told of a scarecrow deity named Kuebiko, who couldn't walk but still managed to know everything. Contemporary scarecrows also have limited mobility, but you can still find them among the more animatronic zombie and witch merchandise in your neighborhood Walgreens. Better yet, you can go to Old Colorado City's Scarecrow Days, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. now through Halloween, to cruise sidewalks filled with mostly handmade scarecrows, and then vote for your favorite via social media.
