We’re a little befuddled on our visit to Salute Bar & Grill
. The menu on their website
drew us in with promised eclectic bites like avocado fries, brisket sandwiches and a burger with peanut butter and bacon. The menu we see bears no resemblance to that — it’s pretty standard sports bar fare. Still, we’re hungry and it’s happy hour — we get a smothered chimichanga ($12.99) and a burger, the Falcon ($9.95), paying a $2 upcharge for whiskey batter onion rings. The rings have a faint sweetness in their crisp batter, which we dig. The burger, a Swiss-and-mushroom standard, comes cooked past requested medium rare and into medium, but it’s a happy, fatty patty that’s only wanting for a little salt on the meat. The green chile smothering that choice-of-meat chimi’s got some kick, and though the steak’s a little chewy, it’s overall decent, with side fries the perfect chile dippers. And during happy hour, Laughing Lab pints are a mere $2.75. Sound otherwise, Salute mostly needs an updated website.
