Greetings, and welcome to your fall ReLeaf. While the arrival of autumn usually brings thoughts of crackling fireplaces, colorful leaves and pumpkin spice whatever, this season may seem a little darker for a lot of us.
The Orange One has cast a shadow over the country, political squabbles dominate every conversation, white nationalists flex their power and many fear what each new scandal and revelation will mean for the future of the country. And then, of course, there’s the trepidation over what this administration (ahem, Jeff Sessions) will decide to inflict upon the legal cannabis market.
It’s all so... winter is coming. But you won’t read any more about it in this issue.
Consider this ReLeaf a little break from all the scary news — a chance to unplug for a goddamn minute and celebrate all that is still good in life. Like herb.
In this issue, we will take you on the highest ride of your life as we scope out Denver’s stoned tour bus and private car options. We’ll introduce you to a group of people who care for MMJ patients, educate them and fight the good fight for their rights. And we’ll recount favorite stoner stories (we all have a good one!).
Even in this intro, we want to offer you a ray of sunshine by reminding you how far the country has come in its collective opinion of Mary Jane. In October 2017, a Gallup poll found that 64 percent of Americans support legal marijuana. Back in 1969, that number stood at 12 percent. In June, Oklahoma voters approved medical marijuana. Oklahoma, people.
So, there are some good things about 2018. And regardless of your circumstances, we hope that you find a little time to enjoy “the high life” before we ring in 2019.
