First President Trump unilaterally eliminates DACA under the guise that it was not approved by Congress. Then a bipartisan plan to replace DACA is presented to President Trump that includes most of the policies that he wants. These added policies benefit just President Trump’s position, such as $1.6 billion for the wall, $1.1 billion for border security and some changes to chain and lottery immigration. Even though President Trump said that he wants “A loving bill” to protect the Dreamers, he rejects this compromise believing that it doesn’t provide him enough “political wins.” Finally, President Trump says that it is the Democrats that do not want the DACA policies that he alone eliminated. SAD!
To review: A Democrat provided responsible Dreamers a way to stay here using DACA, then Republican President Trump unilaterally sets a date to eliminate DACA protections for these Dreamers and now Republican President Trump says that it is the Democrats that don’t want DACA protections for Dreamers. Huh?
