Reader: Poop, graffiti and noise is the Barr Trail norm

  • File photo

Carl Strow is absolutely accurate about Barr Trail, leaving out the fact that you'd better wear trashy shoes for all the dog poo). Don't look up as you straddle the turd-infested trail.

It is now impossible to peacefully walk up or down. People are pissed walking by the crowd. There are arguments, folks short-cutting across most switchbacks, creating washouts and erosion issues. It's more crowded than the mall on Saturdays!

I must wait to walk forward, watching for tempers, keeping my mouth shut at graffiti and other abusers, avoiding further land mines, hearing only human noise, struggling to simply enjoy a day in the mountains. What the hell! Where is this phantom control promised us locals at those painful meetings? Manitou's leadership robs our township of honest, healthy relationships with nature. They are fools stealing from each individual that lives here. Amen.
