I hope that the article defending Antifa will stimulate debate (Trump Tracker, Aug. 23). It is scary to hear a person justify smashing windows and boast about "punks getting s**t done."
That Antifa is also acting as medics at rallies, along with other good deeds, is commendable. But I shudder to see violence increased, and the power of peaceful protest dismissed.
Baynard Woods might need to reread the poem, "The Second Coming," the source of his line, "the center cannot hold." It is not a rallying cry. Rather it laments a terrible tragedy. It is not true in the U.S. today that "the best lack all conviction." Rather, thousands of counter-protesters came out to meet the white nationalists in Charlottesville and other cities.
