The citizens of this nation need a new direction in which to place their hope.
They need leaders who understand the value of people and work to ensure equal opportunity and inclusion for all citizens. I see that new direction embodied in the efforts of Cory Booker and Bernie Sanders, visionaries who have proposed plans for leading through a thoughtful understanding of our nation and its people. We need confidence that our leaders will see our needs and represent our country faithfully to the world.
Here is the antidote: Assure that candidates are given fair representation by removing the Electoral College, which will return the power of the vote to the citizens. Reduce the amount of money allowed to all candidates so resources will be equal. Outlaw lobbying in any form. Promote accuracy in the media and prohibit ballot results being revealed until all votes are tallied. Discourage negative campaigning. This antidote, while a bitter pill for those who have gamed the system for too long, will be a warm welcome to the disenfranchised, marginalized and overwhelmed citizens who have lost faith in our form of government.
