Reader: A plutocracy is not what the founding fathers had in mind

With estimates that the top 10 percent of the population own up to 76 percent of the nation's wealth, I couldn't more strongly disagree with the opinion of Len Bentley.

Our middle class and even our democracy is at stake when 90 percent of our citizens compete for the remaining 24 percent of our nation's wealth. A plutocracy is not what our founding fathers had in mind when they established this great country. The preamble to the Constitution states our government is established to "promote the general welfare" not to make the rich even richer.
