It may seem a long way from his birthplace in Amarillo, Texas, to Colorado Springs, but it is just a short skip and a jump compared to where Arch Hooks has played. From across the nation to countries as far-flung as New Zealand and the Netherlands, he has played his keyboards to more than five million people, according to his Web site. Now that takes some figuring, but what is not so difficult to figure is Hooks attraction: Hes big, hes loud and he sure knows how to rock the house. A typical three-hour set can move through Prince and Macy Gray to a damn sexy Barry White. Hooks turns his voice to many genres and does it with verve, ably accompanied by drummer Bruce Anderson. He may be Texan, but for a hardworking artist who debuted his CD at The Ritz, Hooks is one of our own homegrown musical stars.
