Q: How many local bands does it take to change a light bulb at Benny's? A: Apparently four. Hey, it's not funny! While benefit concerts often have pointedly humanitarian causes and human beneficiaries, none who've ever haunted Colorado Springs' premiere dive bar would deny the benevolence of this cause: Benny's gorgeous vintage signage has been languishing in a physical (and metaphysical) darkness and needs new light bulbs! Benny's long-standing policy of supporting the local music scene with next to no prejudice where style and genre are concerned merits canonization. Picture it now: "Saint Benny's" lighting up the night like an absinthe beacon to lovers of liquor and licks alike. Food and beverage specials start at 2 in the afternoon with music by punks and rockers beginning at 6 p.m. There'll be various giveaways of T-shirts and CDs and what-have-you. Hey, 8 bucks for four bands and some bulbs ain't bad.
