Here's a great idea for a way to have a fantastic day-after-Thanksgiving far from the malls: Drive down to Salida and go shopping at all the little art galleries and craft stores, watch their quaint parade of lights and lighting of Christmas Mountain (the big "S" on the side of the mountain is set ablaze in the lights to shine forth as a beacon of good will toward men and women and transgender people and people of heretofore unnamed genders in this, our darkest time of year when many different religions have other holidays that also celebrate lights in ways that may or may not be offensive to people of other religions depending on if they feel in any way discriminated against or excluded) and walk through Holiday Park where dozens of trees are lit up like Snoop Dogg. Once you've had that much fun, you should drop by the Steam Plant Theater where blues dude Otis Taylor (winner of the 2002 W.C. Handy Award) will kick down the best acoustic blues this side of the delta.
