Dearly departed, let us remember the right honorable Tim Finnigan, a band of spirited music, of robust drinking ability, and of generous nature. Today we gather not in sadness but in celebration of the life of this much-respected band, and thereby begin our wake for Tim Finnigan.
Bring forth your toasts to Finnigan's life, death and resurrection -- those most hearty and hale in their praise will surely bring this wondrous band back from the Other Side, to play for us once more!
And so goes The Wake for Tim Finnigan, a musical, theatrical, St. Patrick's celebration Friday night at the Fine Arts Center. The Gaelic tricksters have invited all friends, relatives, dancers, pipers, Irish musicians, seanachies (storytellers), sin eaters and crying keeners to the visitation from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The first and last hours of the wake are open to any and all who want to make a toast or otherwise perform, before The Band Tim Finnigan rises up and entertains the crowd with traditional Irish songs. Admission is $10, and the first pint is on Tim. Bring your best soda bread for the Old Fashioned Soda Bread exchange, and plan on encountering only the best of craic (conversation). Call 634-5583 for tickets.
Once fully alive, Tim Finnigan will perform this Saturday, St. Patrick's Day, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. at Phantom Canyon, 2 E. Pikes Peak. Then travel down the road a piece to Bristol Brewing Co., 1647 S. Tejon, where the merry band will share songs and pints from 8 p.m. until late into the night.
