Muddy Waters didn't get his start in Chicago in the '40s until Big Bill Broonzy introduced him to all the blues jams on Chicago's South Side. And where would Junior Wells be in our blues history if Little Walter never took a chance and gave the 12-year-old kid his mike to harp on at the Ebony Lounge on Chicago's North Side?
OK, OK, Colorado Springs isn't Chicago and we may not have Muddy Waters and Junior Wells poppin' out of the woodwork, but we do have the fixin's for a great blues jam here in town. Laura Belle's has been supporting live music since the early '80s and their Wednesday night blues jam has been attracting some of the hottest cats around for over a year now. So, why not celebrate? Pack up your instrument (or your vocal chords) and mosey on down to the near West Side this Wednesday night (and every Wednesday night to come) and take the stage with Joe Sciallo (former guitarist for Joanne Taylor) and his cohorts. And don't worry if you're not a musician, there's always room on the dance floor or a seat at the bar to kick back and enjoy the music and the aged bar atmosphere.
Escape the trendy downtown watering holes and let Pattie pour you a drink. Where else are you gonna find fresh, authentic blues being played by the most talented musicians in town? And they want to welcome you on stage, too? Come on.
