In the early '90s, the AutoNo were the great white hope of the Colorado Springs indie-rock crowd. They'd been around since the mid-'80s and had achieved a degree of fame in Colorado rarely seen from local bands that choose to remain in Colorado Springs. In 1991, after a brief breakup, the band recorded This Is The AutoNo, which won the "Best Rock Recording" from Denver's Westword. In 1993, after releasing their second CD, A Way From Here, the band was enjoying frequent airplay on 91.5 KRCC and 102.7 The MAX, opened for the mega-famous INXS and went to Russia to play with the Volgograd Philharmonic Orchestra. Sadly, before they achieved national recognition, the AutoNo broke up due to lead man Chuck Snow's failing health. But tonight they're regrouping the 1993 band (Chuck Snow, Ivor Young, Mike Amend and Kirk Moore) for a slide down memory-fret-board lane.
