- 8 Stops 7
Right after Elvis Presley died, I remember people saying that everywhere they looked, they thought that they saw Elvis. Can't say that I've ever had that particular experience, though now I think I can identify.
Seems that every time I hear a new band, more often than not I think I'm hearing Pearl Jam. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. There are much worse things to be associated with than Pearl Jam. I say, go with what you know works.
For the new quintet out of the Ventura area of California, 8 Stops 7, channeling Eddie Veder works well. So if you like Pearl Jam, you're going to love these guys. Their debut CD, In Moderation, spawned a fairly moderate hit last winter with the track "My Would-Be Savior." The fact that they also write fairly meaningful lyrics is an added bonus.
You can check them out this Friday at Sky Sox Stadium, as they join 3 Doors Down, Fu Manchu, Isle of Q and One Way Ride at KILO's Summer RockFest 2000. In addition to offering a day full of live rock, you can register to win autographed gear by the bands and participate in human bowling.
