Pikes Peak MakerSpace Open House

When: Sat., July 30, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. 2016

Pikes Peak MakerSpace has seen enormous success in the last few years, and things are only looking up for the organization. For those unfamiliar with the term, a makerspace is a studio with very cool equipment for tinkering, artwork, invention and general creation. Between 3D printers, Tesla coils, laser cutters and other fabulous gadgets, these folks have it all. In fact they have so much, and so many people wanting to use it, that they just opened a second location downtown. Members of the makerspace can still take advantage of the first location in the Manitou Art Center, but today they are hosting an open house to introduce the public to what they are calling the Tesla Lab. All day, you can play with all-ages interactive exhibits, check out a member project showcase, watch demonstrations and maybe even win some prizes. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., 735 E. Pikes Peak Ave., pikespeakmakerspace.org. — Alissa Smith
