Pikes Peak International Hill Climb FanFest

When: Fri., June 24, 5-10 p.m. 2016

It's a big year for one of the world's most iconic motorsports events. I'm talking of course about the 100th Anniversary of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. But before the drivers start laying rubber on the Highway Sunday morning, another — equally popular — event takes over downtown Colorado Springs this evening. Now I'm talking about Fan Fest, a staple of the PPIHC's weekend events. Motorcycle exhibitions be flying high over Tejon Street while attendees meet 2016's competitors and cars, and enjoy a beer garden, a Fire Fighter Chili Cook-Off and vendor booths. PPIHC Race Week is easily one of the most anticipated local events of the summer, and the celebration of its centennial is sure to make this year's party even more exhilarating. 5 to 10 p.m., downtown Colorado Springs, free to attend, ppihc.com/fan-fest. — Craig Lemley
