Pikes Peak Earth Day

When: Sat., April 16, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. 2011

Though the rest of the country will celebrate Earth Day on April 22, our local organizations have inexplicably decided to mark the occasion today. Whatever — make every day Earth Day, no? The Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center (1805 N. 30th St., gardenofgods.com) will offer everything from animal exhibits, crafts and a magic show to nature walks and a park clean-up, all free, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. And the Pikes Peak Earth Day folks and some 50 vendors will convene at District 11's Doherty High School (4515 Barnes Road, pikespeakearthday.org) between 10 and 3 with kids' activities, animal exhibits and a paper-making project using elephant dung. — Matthew Schniper
