Nosferatu Live Accompaniment

When: Thu., March 3 2016

If there's one thing that could make Austin's Invincible Czars even more weird and wonderful than nature intended, it would be having German expressionist actor Max Schreck creeping around the same venue. That'll happen this evening at Ivywild School, where F.W. Murnau's Nosferatu screens with live accompaniment by the Czars, who've taken it upon themselves to compose and perform their own score for the 1922 silent vampire classic. While the group's arsenal of violin, woodwinds and traditional rock instrumentation is well-suited for warped takes on ska, post-punk and circus music, they can also be just as unsettlingly atmospheric as Nick Cave's instrumental collaborators Dirty Three. In other words, a good time will be had by all. 7 p.m., 1604 S. Cascade Ave., $10, — Bill Forman
