Nick Moss & the Flip Tops, with Lurrie Bell

When: Fri., Jan. 1, 8 p.m. 2010

It's not every day, or even every decade, that a critically revered bluesman with a brand new Grammy nomination comes to a local venue as intimate as the Crystola Roadhouse (20918 E. U.S. Hwy. 24, Woodland Park, myspace.com/crystolaroadhouse). So this 8 p.m. New Year's Day appearance by Chicago guitarist/singer/songwriter Lurrie Bell — along with the talented Nick Moss & the Flip Tops — counts as a genuine booking coup. You can read last week's interview with Bell, who's the son of the late blues harp player Carey Bell, at bit.ly/4s9kU4, then watch the two blues heavyweights heat up the club enough to sweat off those New Year's calories. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, for what's sure to be remembered as one of 2010's very best shows. — Bill Forman

Price: $15-$40
