Hikers who'd prefer not to continue up the Manitou Incline to its agonizing summit may soon have new excuses to bail.
Incline Friends, dedicated to "maintaining and sustaining" the steep trail built on a former railway, hopes to add three exits along the ascent, the Gazette reported Aug. 25.
The first exit would leave the trail slightly more than one-quarter of the way up and connect with the Ute Indian Trail down. A second would be built across from a current exit point about two-thirds of the way up, and another three-fourths of the way up, at the "false summit." The new exits are designed to divert some traffic from the heavily used Barr Trail.
