New Impressionism

When: Aug. 25-Sept. 22 2011

According to his bio, Ukrainian artist Alexandr Onishenko went to Prague and set up a painting stand with all the other artists camped on the Charles Bridge. He had almost nothing, but before long, he was able to open his own gallery. It's no wonder: Onishenko's impressionist paintings define the genre established by artists before him, a quick sketch in paint capturing a fleeting moment of the day. Come see Onishenko's work at the Hayden Hays Gallery (at The Broadmoor, 1 Lake Ave., haydenhaysgallery.com) in an opening reception with Onishenko himself, from 4:30 to 8:30 tonight, or stop by anytime through Sept. 26. — Edie Adelstein
