NaRai Thai maintains high standards in Rockrimmon

  • Griffin Swartzell
I’ve ordered takeout from Jasmine Andrew’s original Rockrimmon location a handful of times, always to satisfaction, but I’ve never dined in before. The vibe’s pleasant and hip, though on a lunch visit, my dining companion and I are struck by surprisingly loud bass on the ultra-chill lo-fi hip hop coming over the speakers. Subwoofers aside, the food’s excellent on all fronts; Indy readers picked an excellent spot for Best Thai Food in this year’s Best Of Colorado Springs.

The special Massaman beef curry ($9.79), ordered medium, comes pleasantly warm. We might be able to cut the beef with a spoon, and the tender potatoes and peanuts add textural pleasure to the subtly perfumed spice bouquet. Changing it up, we also try the Singapore noodles ($8.49), ordered hot with chicken. The wide egg noodles carry a yellow curry sauce rich with onion and turmeric. Tomatoes and tender tofu complete a simple, delicious bite.
