MarchFourth Marching Band and Diego's Umbrella

When: Thu., Feb. 11, 7 p.m. 2016

Portland's heavily percussive and ambitiously theatrical MarchFourth! would be altogether unnecessary if Colorado's Itchy-O Marching Band were to trade their LED-enhanced, Ninja-graced, avant-funk for something more akin to gypsy jazz-rock and carny-barker shtick. Of course, Itchy-O would never go there, but MarchFourth! happily will, which is good news for fans of gravelly Tom Waits-style vocals and overblown cabaret spectacle. The Phoenix New Times likened them to "Sergeant Pepper leading a freaky Cirque du Soleil performance from the bandstand or European Gypsy camps stumbling upon the rhythms of Brazilian jungle tribes." You can see for yourself tonight at Stargazers, with Diego's Umbrella opening. 7 p.m., 10 S. Parkside Drive, $15, — Bill Forman

Price: $15
